PREP BASEBALL

BRUNSWICK, Md. — Chance Smith had three hits, including a three-run homer in the sixth, and five RBIs to lead Brunswick to a 9-0 MVAL Antietam win over Williamsport (6-4, 4-3).

Joe Fawley homered, Gary Barrett had three hits with a triple and a double, and Colin Nusbaum pitched a three-hitter with four strikeouts for the Railroaders (6-3, 4-2).

Smithsburg outhit Catoctin 5-4, but the Leopards had control problems on the mound, leading to an MVAL Antietam loss.

J.R. Rinehart went 5 1/3 innings, allowing only three hits and striking out eight, but he also issued 10 walks.

Alec Hedjuk drove in the only run for Smithsburg (3-7, 1-5) in the fourth inning, cutting the lead to 2-1 at that point.

Joey Johnson hit two home runs for Catoctin (6-3, 3-3).

HARRISBURG, Pa. — Andrew Shriner drove in the winning run with a single in the eighth inning, and pitched all eight frames for the Trojans in a Mid-Penn Commonwealth victory over Central Dauphin East.

Shriner allowed six hits and struck out five without a walk.

Logan Stonesifer had two hits and started the eighth with a double for Chambersburg (6-3, 5-1). Nick Graham had an RBI single and Matt Stonesifer’s second sacrifice fly of the game provided the final run. Stonesifer’s first sac fly tied the game in the seventh.

Zane Stewart also had two hits for the Trojans.

Mehrling helped her cause with a two-run homer in the fourth. Ashlyn Hinkle had two hits and two RBIs, and Darian Kamara and Olivia Griffin each had two hits for the Rebels (3-5, 3-3).
