Pancake breakfast planned Saturday

A pancake breakfast to benefit Habitat for Humanity will be hosted by First Christian Church Saturday from 7 to 11 a.m.

The menu includes all-you-can-eat pancakes, eggs, sausage, orange juice, milk, coffee or tea (extra sausage costs 50 cents). Groups are welcome, but call in advance so there will be enough  food ready for everyone.

Tickets cost $5 in advance or $5.50 at the door.

The church is at 1345 Potomac Ave. in Hagerstown.

Meritus Medical Center planning art sale in May

An art sale will be in the hallway at Meritus Medical Center from April 25 to May 30.

Wildlife and western art by John Neal Mullican will be featured in the hallway left of the information desk.

Losses for the week totaled 29 pounds for TOPS (Take Off Pounds Sensibly) Chapter 0077.

The best KOPS (Keep Off Pounds Sensibly) losers were Lu M., Mary Jo Cunningham and Joan Gilbert.

Patsy Price won the ha-ha prize. Winners of the March contest were Judy Purdham and Charlie House.

Diabetes support group to meet Wednesday

The Diabetes Support Group at Potomac Towers will meet Wednesday at 1:30 p.m. in the first- floor community room.  

The program will be “Diabetes Superfoods” presented by Lisa McCoy from the Washington County Health Department. The support group is open to individuals who live at Potomac Towers and anyone in the community.

It provides a forum for educating individuals with diabetes to help manage their disease and to gain support from others. 

The group is sponsored by the Washington County Health Department, Hagerstown Housing Authority and the Washington County Commission on Aging.

Hospital center plans health fair Saturday

Western Maryland Hospital Center will hold its second annual health fair Saturday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Participating vendors include Home Call, John Marsh Cancer Center at Meritus Medical Center, Hospice of Washington County, Roberts Home Medical, Bergman Eye Center, Washington County Health Department, Central ENT Consultation, Medi Rents and Sales, Planet Fitness, Washington County Commission on Aging, Community Action Council, Guardian In Home Services, Law Office of Charles Stewart, Med Express, and Parkway Neuroscience and Spine Institute.

Admission is free. There will be door prizes and free hearing screenings.

The hospital center is at 1500 Pennsylvania Ave. in Hagerstown.
