Lester Junior Smith I, 82, of Hagerstown, Md., passed away peacefully on Friday, April 12, 2013, at Fahrney Keedy Home & Village Boonsboro, Md., surrounded by his wife and children.

Born July 3, 1930, in Hagerstown to the late Lester Leroy and Mary Elizabeth Sypolt Smith.

He was a 1949 graduate of Hagerstown High School.

He was employed by Mack Trucks Inc. Hagerstown, until retiring in 1991.

He was a veteran of the U.S. Army serving during the Korean War.

He was a member of Grace United Methodist Church Hagerstown.

Survivors include: wife, Claudia "Petie" Wolford Smith, married for 61 years, of Hagerstown; daughter, Leslie Miller and her husband, Robert, of Hagerstown; daughter, Patricia Guessford and fiance, Rick Short, of Hagerstown; son, Lester Smith and wife, Carol, of Smithsburg; son, Joseph Smith and wife, Kate, of Hagerstown; sister, Anne Oden of Smithsburg; sisters, Beverly Royce of Hagerstown; six grandchildren; six great-grandchildren

He was predeceased by one brother, Robert Smith; and two sisters, Kitty Lee Godlove and Mary Jane Beaver.

The family will receive friends at the Osborne Funeral Home, 425 S. Conococheague St., Williamsport, Md., on Monday, April 15, 2013, from 6 to 8 p.m. The funeral home will be open after 9 a.m. on Monday for the convenience of family and friends.

Funeral services will be held at Osborne Funeral Home, 425 S. Conococheague St., Williamsport on Tuesday, April 16, 2013, at 11 a.m. with Robert Miller officiating. Interment will be in Greenlawn Memorial Park Williamsport. Military graveside services will be provided by AMVETS Post No. 10 and Marine Corps League of Hagerstown.
