April 12, 2013

SHEPHERDSTOWN, W.Va. —

The Potomac Valley Audubon Society will sponsor an interpretive hike at the Eidolon Nature Preserve in Morgan County on Sunday, April 21. The hike will begin at 10 a.m. and will be led by the preserve's caretaker, Joe Gentile. It is free and open to anyone with an interest. Children will be welcome. No registration is required.

The hike will focus on signs of spring. The Eidolon property, which is 354 acres in size, includes redbuds and many different kinds of wildflowers. Migrating warblers should be arriving around this time.

The preserve is at the top of Sideling Hill Mountain, on Orleans Road, southwest of Great Cacapon. Detailed directions can be found on the society's website at www.potomacaudubon.org.

Hike participants should wear sturdy walking shoes or boots, dress appropriately for the weather conditions, and bring along water and bug spray.

For more information, call Gentile at 304-258-3197.
