Washington County employees to join in benefit events

April 11, 2013

The Washington County Recreation Department and the City of Hagerstown announced that $8,171.92 will be distributed to community organizations on behalf of the annual Run for Your Luck 5K.

This year’s proceeds support the Community Free Clinic of Washington County, and the race committee also will make a one-time donation of $500 to the Quinn Hoover Legacy Fund.

The annual Saint Patrick’s Day race is co-hosted by the City of Hagerstown, Washington County Recreation Department and Community Free Clinic.

As part of an ongoing spring fitness initiative, Washington County employees will participate in Bowl for Kids’ Sake on April 21 and the March of Dimes March for Babies on April 27.

Turner’s Dual Lanes will partner with Big Brothers Big Sisters of Washington County to host the annual Bowl for Kid’s Sake event. Community members can form teams and join the effort to encourage self-esteem and growth of children in single-parent families. Proceeds from the event support mentoring programs across the county.

Community members interested in organizing a team or becoming a sponsor may contact Jennifer Carbaugh at j.carbaugh@bbbswcmd.org or 301-739-4711.

The March of Dimes March for Babies will be at Fairgrounds Park. Funds raised will support community programs and research to find answers to problems that threaten babies.

Commissioner Jeff Cline, chairman of the event, and his team have raised more than $750 to date.
