April 09, 2013

One of two people taken to hospitals after a fire Monday morning at 46 E. North Ave. in Hagerstown has been released from Meritus Medical Center, Hagerstown Fire Marshal Doug DeHaven said Tuesday afternoon.

DeHaven identified the fire victim as Carl Lockley, 45.

There were four people in the house when the fire started and they all are family members, DeHaven said.

Pierre Lockley, 53, was taken to the Burn Center at MedStar Washington Hospital Center, but DeHaven said he did not have an update on his condition.

The house is owned by Lacey Lockley, DeHaven said. Lacey Lockley was in the house, but he was not injured, DeHaven said.

A woman also was in the house, but she was not injured, DeHaven said.

DeHaven said he did not want to comment on a possible cause of the fire until he has a chance to talk to Pierre Lockley.

The fire damaged the top floors of a three-story, single-family home, said Mark Cleck, battalion chief for the Hagerstown Fire Department.
