Victory Garden offered in Pa. for growing season

April 09, 2013

CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. — The Franklin County Master Gardeners will offer a "Victory Garden" experience to participants at the Horticultural Gardens, across the street from the Franklin County Extension Office, 181 Franklin Farm Lane, Chambersburg, for the summer growing season. The class meets from 9 to 11 a.m. Mondays, April 22 through Sept. 16.

The Victory Garden is a season-long vegetable growing class in a shared, community garden setting at the Master Gardener Clubhouse at the Horticulture Center Gardens. Each Monday will begin with a short class: participants will learn everything from preparation to planning the garden and harvesting vegetables; they will do the hands-on garden work, and take home the produce grown. Tools will be provided, and participants should bring gloves and wear gardening clothes.

The class costs $40. Registration is required. To register, call the Extension office at 717-263-9226.
