The fifth annual Cinderella’s Closet fundraiser to benefit the Humane Society of Washington County raised $2,316 for the animal shelter.

Shoppers began gathering at the doors to the Health Occupations classroom at Washington County Technical High School waiting for doors to open.

Held  March 8 at Tech High on Oak Ridge Drive, the fundraiser was hosted and run by the Tech  High’s Skills USA students.

The event was such a success that a second sale was held March 16.

“The students worked hard getting everything priced, hung up and prepared for the sales,” said Marjorie Kellman, Skills USA/SGA lead adviser, who oversaw the fundraiser.

The students who helped with the fundraiser are Alisa Stevenson, Jackson Barrick, Holly Nalley, Austen Dietrich, Cheyanne Morgan, Victoria Horman, Kelsey Cooper, Victoria Fitzwater, Lacey Smith, Ian Burnett, Megan Barber, Sky Whitmore and Catie Jeter.

JC Penney at Valley Mall loaned several dress racks for the event.

Judi Wilson and Joyce Lee from Potomac Bridals donated gowns for the event.

“We always said we wanted to do what we could to give back to this wonderful community and this seems to be a great way to do just that,” Wilson said.

“We are pleased we could help,” Lee said.

The humane society is at 13011 Maugansville Road in Hagerstown. Call 301-733-2060 or go to www.hswcmd.org for information on animal-related issues, directions to the shelter and information about programs and services.
