HCC splits DH with Prince George's

COLLEGE BASEBALL

Prince George’s 11-8, HCC 10-17

LARGO, Md. — Hagerstown split a twinbill with Prince George’s on Thursday.

Hagerstown lost the first game 11-10 but rebounded to take the second game 17-8.

In the opener, Prince George’s plated the winning run in the bottom of the eighth.

Dylan Dunn smacked a three-run homer, Eric Schanzenbacher had three hits and two RBIs, Tyler Walter had two hits and three RBIs and C.J. Owings had two hits for the Hawks (20-16).

In the second game, Keith Johnson had four hits and four RBIs, Drew DeShong had three hits and three RBIs, Walter had three hits and two RBIs and Zachary Mathews had two hits and two RBIs.

PREP BASEBALL

Broadfording 17, CVCS 7

Christian Kehr had two hits and scored four runs to lead Broadfording past Cumberland Valley Christian School in the Mason Dixon Christian Conference.

Brett Fogle and Trevor Snodderly had two hits each for the Lions (2-1, 2-1), who plated 12 runs in sixth.

Heritage Academy 15, New Life 5

Bubba Kriner and David Fisler combined on a two-hitter for Heritage Academy in a Mason Dixon Christian Conference win over New Life Christian that was called after five innings.

Kriner and David Shank had two hits each, Fisler had two hits, including a double, and Bryce Nigh had a double for the Eagles (2-0).

Greencastle 3, Boiling Springs 1

BOILING SPRINGS, Pa. — Freshman Myles Gayman threw his second complete game in Greencastle’s Mid-Penn Colonial win over Boiling Springs.

Gayman struck out only one, walked three, threw 79 pitches and the Greencastle defense made three double plays behind him.

Greencastle (3-1, 1-1) scored twice in the second inning on an RBI single by Holden Baker and groundout by Kurt Hansen. Jake Crist had two hits for the Blue Devils.

HANCOCK — Haley Demory tossed a three-hitter with 11 strikeouts to lead Hancock past Saint James.

Courtney Royce had four hits, while Demory, Jessica Martin and Alisa Shives each had two hits for the Panthers (3-2).

Alyssa Blank had two hits for the Saints (0-4).

Fannett-Metal 3-11, Southern Fulton 2-1

WILLOW HILL, Pa. — Southern Fulton dropped a doubleheader to the PIAA Class A defending champions.

In an eight-inning loss in the opener, Southern Fulton’s Marley Elbin allowed only two hits, one that was combined with a stolen base and error that sent the Indians to defeat. Kayla Wertz had two of the Indians’ six hits.

The second game went five innings as Southern Fulton (0-4) pitching sent 18 Fannett-Metal batters to first base via walks.

ST. JAMES — Alex Krauss scored the winning goal in overtime to lead Mercersburg Academy past Saint James.

Krauss finished with two goals and an assist, Will Walter had a hat trick, Nathan Marincic had a goal and an assist, Jack Flanagan had a goal, Philip Kistler had an assist and Michael Hutwelker had 16 saves for the Blue Storm (1-3).

Kyle Neale had two goals and one assist, Max Brady and Leighton Younger had a goal and assist each and Austin Fahey and Jake Thompson each scored one goal for the Saints (4-3).



GIRLS LACROSSE

North Hagerstown 13, Tuscarora 8

Kayla Peterson had six goals and seven ground balls for North Hagerstown in a win over Tuscarora.

Leah Peterson had four goals and five draw controls, Savannah Plemmons, Natalie Karlen and Anna Compton each had a goal and Emma Moss had seven saves for the Hubs.

Frederick 13, Boonsboro 5

FREDERICK, Md. — Claudia Jenkins had two goals and five draw controls for Boonsboro in a loss to Frederick.

Alex Green had two goals, Lily Funke had a goal and Maeve Windsor had 13 saves for the Warriors.

Mercersburg 16, Saint James 12

MERCERSBURG, Pa. — Gabby Cuzzola had seven goals to lead Mercersburg Academy past Saint James.

Madison Fahey had nine goals for Saint James (0-2). Sarah Treger, Grace Fulton and Kerri Kline each had a goal, Heather Deiner and Emerson Younger each had an assist, Becca Murphy had four draw controls and four ground balls and Serenity Miller had nine saves for the Saints.
