Waynesboro Fire Department will hold dedication for new multipurpose vehicle

April 05, 2013

WAYNESBORO, Pa. — The Waynesboro Fire Department will hold an open house and dedication for its new multipurpose vehicle Sunday at 29 S. Potomac St. in Waynesboro.

The open house will be from 1 to 3 p.m. and the dedication will be at 2 p.m.

Fire Chief David Martin said the public is encouraged to attend both the department tour and dedication.

Light refreshments will be served, and the fire department’s memorabilia room will be open to the public, Martin said.

The new vehicle cost $475,000, and will bring the department’s fleet to seven, he said.

“We actually replaced two pieces (of equipment) with this one,” Martin said. “We got rid of our old rescue truck and our mini-pumper.”

He said the new vehicle will better serve the community.

“It’s a dual-purpose vehicle, so with less manpower, we’ll be able to do more than one job while we’re on the scene,” Martin said.
