William Ernest Summers, 82, of 17312 Evergreen Drive in Hagerstown, Md., died Wednesday, April 3, 2013, at his home.

Born Nov. 11, 1930, in Hagerstown, he was the son of the late Clarence R. Summers Sr. and Julia E. Groff Summers.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Barbara Jean Sprecher Summers, on Nov. 4, 2003.

He was a 1948 graduate of Hagerstown High School.

He attended St. James Brethren Church.

He was a member of Waynesboro Model Railroad Club. He coached PONY and Colt League baseball for many years.

He is survived by one son, Scott Summers; his caregiver, David DeCarlo; one sister, Dorothy Woods of Hagerstown; two granddaughters; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by a son, Kevin Summers.

Private graveside services will be at Cedar Lawn Memorial Park, Hagerstown. Military honors will be provided by Morris Frock American Legion Post 42.

The family will receive friends Sunday, April 7, 2013, from 4 to 6 p.m. at Minnich Funeral Home, 415 E. Wilson Blvd., Hagerstown.
