Irene Hiteshue, 92, of 10810 Gaywood Drive in Hagerstown, Md., and formerly of Greensburg, Pa., died Monday, April 1, 2013, at Williamsport Nursing Home, where she had been living since 2010.

Born June 10, 1920, in Greensburg, she was the daughter of the late Lilly May Anderson Miller and Vern Homer Miller.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 37 years, John Allen Hiteshue Sr., who passed away in 1985. Also preceding her in death was a great friend, Ralph Bishop.

She was a graduate of Greensburg High School, and was employed for 17 years in the accounting department of Washington County Hospital.

She was a member of First Christian Church in Hagerstown, where she served as deacon, ushered, served on several committees and was a member of the Women's Fellowship.

Irene was a member of National AARP and local chapter 623. She was a volunteer at Western Maryland Hospital Center. She was a former member of Halfway Senior Citizens Club. She belonged to Mason Dixon Camping Club for many enjoyable years with her husband.

Irene is survived by a daughter, Beverly A. Hiteshue of Alexandria, Va.; a son, John A. Hiteshue Jr., and his wife, Sheila, of Hagerstown; two grandsons, James W. Hiteshue and Scott L. Hiteshue, both of Hagerstown; and two great-grandsons, Ethan J. Hiteshue and Christian S. Hiteshue, both of Hagerstown.

She was preceded in death by two sisters, Margaret Esther Crosina and Eleanor Wineman, and an infant sister, all of Greensburg.

Funeral services will be Friday, April 5, 2013, at 11 a.m. at Minnich Funeral Home, 415 E. Wilson Blvd., Hagerstown. The Rev. Jim Davies will officiate. Burial will be at Cedar Lawn Memorial Park, Hagerstown.

The family will receive friends Thursday from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
