Md. 550 resurfacing project to result in lane closures

April 02, 2013

Because of ongoing work, Md. 550 northeast of Highfield-Cascade will be subject to single-lane closures between Md. 491 and the Frederick County line until the summer as the Maryland State Highway Administration completes a resurfacing project there that began Monday, according to the SHA.

The work on Military Road, which becomes Sabillasville Road, will include new pavement, better drainage, and other improvements, such as new, reflective pavement markings and replacement of portions of the existing concrete curb and retaining walls, the SHA said in a press release.

Single-lane closures with flagging could occur on the road Monday through Friday from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m., and shoulder closures could happen at any time, the SHA said. Temporary detours will be placed in the area during some of the work.

The project cost is $1 million. C.J. Miller LLC of Hampstead, Md. has been contracted for the work, the SHA said.
