The Hagerstown Railroad Museum and Engine 202 will open for the season Friday.

This year, the museum will be open for extended hours every Friday and Saturday.

The museum welcomes visitors Fridays and Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. The museum is also available for tours by appointment Sunday through Thursday.

The museum will be open for the season through December.

It is in Hagerstown’s City Park along Highland Way.

It features a collection of railroad memorabilia.

The Steam Locomotive Engine 202 is the crown jewel in the collection and is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.

The museum also will be open during certain events happening within the City of Hagerstown.

Visitors can plan to tour the museum during the 2013 Museum Ramble slated for May 4 and 5 and Railroad Heritage Days on May 18 and 19.

The museum is looking for docents and volunteers to help expand the hours offered for touring and at events.
