HAGERSTOWN — A Hagerstown Police Department spokesman said Sunday night that investigators were still trying to determine what led to the shooting of two men outside a bar in the West End of Hagerstown early Sunday.

Investigators believed the disturbance occurred outside the bar at 5 Nottingham Road and involved only the shooter and the two victims, Sgt. John Lehman of the Criminal Investigation Division said.

Nottingham Road is off Washington Street. The bar is close to the intersection of the streets.

The two men who were injured suffered gunshot wounds to the lower leg, Lehman said.

One of the men was on the ground when police arrived, and he was taken to Meritus Medical Center near Hagerstown, Lehman said.

The other victim was not at the scene when police arrived because he had been taken to the hospital by someone else, Lehman said.

Both men’s injuries were not life threatening, police said.

Lehman declined to say what type of gun was used and added that he did not have a detailed description of the shooter.

The incident was reported at 1:44 a.m. when officers responded to the bar for reports of shots being fired, according to a news release.
