Products and services: We are a New York-style deli, a full-service bakery and an event caterer. Our breakfast menu includes homemade muffins, scones, cinnamon rolls, egg and sausage sandwiches, and omelets. Our lunch and dinner menu includes homemade soups, salads and deli sandwiches. We make our deli meat in-house. Our bakery sells breads, cookies, cupcakes and various treats. We also prepare cakes for birthdays, weddings and other occasions. Our catering service provides meals for weddings, business meetings, reunions and family celebrations.

Target market: We feed hungry people everywhere, but mostly offer a quick lunch for those working in and around the downtown Martinsburg area. The average price of lunch is $10 per person. The average price of a catered dinner is $20 per person.

How did you get into your business, and what motivated you to start it? I worked for several years in fine-dining restaurants. After having my daughter, I started working for a catering company. It gave me the flexibility I needed, and I really enjoyed it. After a couple of years, I decided to open my own company. My concept is simple. Make it fresh and make it taste good. As I was catering, it quickly became clear that people want quality food made fresh, not processed and prepackaged items. So I started organizing the next step for my business, a restaurant with great quality and reasonable prices. In the fall of 2012, I moved into an empty restaurant space in downtown Martinsburg and opened Signature Deli on Jan. 28. Seeing a need for a quality bakery in Martinsburg, I partnered with Amber Wallace-Garrison. She is one of the best pastry chefs in the area and pursues the same quality and standards as I do. She provides fresh-baked breads and desserts for the restaurant, as well as cakes, pies and breads for individual sale.
