Harold Eugene “Johnny” Harne Sr., 68, of Hagerstown, died Friday, March 29, 2013, at Western Maryland Hospital Center.

Born April 24, 1944, in Hagerstown, he was the son of the late John Floyd Harne and Catherine (Miller) Craft of Idaho, and was raised by the late Ed and Lizzie Brinkley.

He worked as a machine operator at Maryland Made Kitchens for more than 30 years. Johnny also worked for Larstan and J&L Concessions, where he ran concessions at City Park in Hagerstown for 25 years. He also ran concessions at Pen Mar Park, Potterfield Pool, Marty Snook Pool and Greenbrier State Park camp store.

Johnny was a former member of the Hagerstown Owls Club as well as the Williams Grove Historical Steam Engine Association Inc. in Pennsylvania.

He was a “Jack of all trades.” He loved to work with wood and enjoyed trying to find a bargain at flea markets and having yard sales. He enjoyed being outside and doing yard work. His family was his life.

Johnny is survived by his loving wife of 10 years, Linda M. (Smith) Brown Harne; his first wife of 36 years, Donna Harne of Hagerstown; nine children, Penny Thomas and husband, Randy, of Williamsport, Harold Harne Jr., Edward Harne and wife, Tammi, Brandi Naugle and husband, Mark, Scott Brown and wife, Crystal, David Harne and wife, Kayla, Gina Hann, Sue Showe and husband, Eric, and Jamie Ashkettle, all of Hagerstown; 28 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; three sisters, Evelyn Carman of Chambersburg, Pa., Norma Jean Sattington of Hagerstown, and Beverly Jordan and husband, Ted, of Idaho; a brother, Gary L. Craft of Hagerstown; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Johnny was preceded in death by Ed and Lizzie Brinkley, who raised him; a daughter, Virginia Brown; a great-granddaughter, Kamryn Lee Jones; and a sister-in-law, Nellie Craft.

A funeral service will be Tuesday, April 2, 2013, at 11 a.m. at Rest Haven Funeral Chapel, 1601 Pennsylvania Ave., Hagerstown, with Chaplain Richard Bower officiating. Interment will follow at Rest Haven Cemetery.

The family will receive friends Monday, April 1, 2013, from 5 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home.
