SMITHSBURG — Brooke Parks had three hits — including the 100th hit of her career — and drove in three runs as Smithsburg blanked Manchester Valley.

Cara Ferguson (1-1) allowed just three hits over six innings, striking out 10 to get the win for the Leopards (1-1).

Ferguson and Vanesa Cuevas each had two hits and Cuevas drove in two runs.

Clear Spring 4, Brunswick 1

CLEAR SPRING — Kristen Mellott had six strikeouts to lead Clear Spring past Brunswick in the MVAL Antietam.

Brooklyn Drury had two hits and two RBIs, Jenna Knable and Sarah Blickenstaff had two hits each and Savannah Mills pitched three innings of relief and struck out five for the Blazers (1-1).

Ashley Smith had three hits for the Railroaders.

Berkeley Springs 5-11, Hancock 0-0

BERKELEY SPRINGS, W.Va. — Makenah Harrington hit a three-run home run and Ashley Campbell launched a grand slam in Berkeley Springs’ 10-run third inning that ended the second game of a doubleheader sweep of Hancock.

Brittney Stotler had two hits and drove in two runs, while Laura Rohm had two hits for the Indians (4-3) in the nightcap.

In the opener, Rohm went the distance in the circle, allowing two hits and a walk while striking out 11 for Berkeley Springs. Ashley Campbell went 3-for-3 with a double and two RBIs, and Brooke Stotler had two hits.

HANOVER, Pa. — Winning pitcher Haley Beamer hit a grand slam in the top of the first inning to spark Waynesboro in a season-opening win over South Western.

Mariah Yingling had four hits — three of which were doubles — and an RBI, while Erin Burd had three hits and an RBI for the Maidens (1-0). Kaelyn Ashway and Sadie Harshman each had two hits.

WATERFALL, Pa. — Marley Elbin had 13 strikeouts for Southern Fulton in a season-opening loss to Forbes Road.

CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. — Alexis Shearer smacked a three-run homer to highlight a five-run sixth and break open a 4-4 tie to lead Chambersburg past Central Dauphin.

Kelsey Reath had three hits and three RBIs for the Trojans.
