Field fire burns half-acre in Boonsboro

March 28, 2013

BOONSBORO — A field fire scorched about a half-acre near the intersection of Dogstreet and Mt. Carmel Church roads Thursday afternoon, according to a fire official.

Capt. Douglas Arnold of the First Hose Company of Boonsboro said there was nothing to indicate the fire south of Boonsboro was connected to a string of suspicious fires in the county since March 17.

It appears Thursday afternoon’s fire, which was reported at 1:37 p.m., was caused by the burning of debris on the property, Arnold said.

Arnold said the owner of the property told fire officials he was burning debris a couple days ago but that he was not burning debris Thursday.
