March 28, 2013

SHEPHERDSTOWN, W.Va. — The Shepherdstown Rotary Club recently donated $500 to the Shepherdstown Middle School band program.

The funds will be used to support music clinics for students participating in the school’s award-winning jazz band.

The clinics, which are held monthly during the school year, bring professional jazz musicians and outside music teachers to the school to provide expert instruction in jazz technique, style, tone, rhythm and interpretation.

The band’s next public performance will be Monday, April 15, at the annual spring concert for all Shepherdstown Middle School band students at Jefferson High School in Shenandoah Junction, W.Va. The concert will be from 7 to 8:30 p.m. in the school’s auditorium.
