Mottern competed in the local- and district-level foul shooting competition at Chestnut Ridge High School, the regional level in Gettysburg, Pa., and then the state competition.

To advance through the program, participants must shoot consecutive foul shots, with the highest score winning the event.

Her scores will be submitted, with the top scores for each state and various countries to determine an international title holder. The winner will be announced in late May.
