DICKERSON, Md. — The Maryland Dairy Industry Association will honor farms across the state as part of a statewide dairy farm beautification program.

This is the fifth year for the Maryland Dairy of Distinction program. So far, 25 dairy farms have received the honor.

Farms nominated for the Dairy of Distinction Award will be judged during spring and summer. Winners will be announced at the February 2014 Maryland Dairy Convention.

All Maryland dairy producers are invited to submit an application for the award.
Applications are due by April 16.

To obtain an application, call Laurie Savage at 301-349-0750 or send an email to secretary@marylanddairyindustry.org or call Leslie Hart at 301-432-4782 or send an email to lhart@washco-md.net.

Send applications to Hart, Washington County Agricultural Business Development, 7303-7313 Sharpsburg Pike, Boonsboro, MD 21713, or fax to 240-313-2281.

Winning dairies will receive a sign for display at their operation locations.

Attractive dairy farms give the consumer greater confidence in the wholesomeness of milk and stimulate milk sales, which encourages public support for the dairy industry. This award gives recognition to dairy producers for maintaining well-kept farmsteads.
