March 24, 2013

Ronald L. Kauffman, 70, of State Line, Pa., died unexpectedly at 3:51 p.m. Thursday, March 21, 2013, at Chambersburg (Pa.) Hospital.

Born Feb. 19, 1943, in Waynesboro, Pa., he was the son of the late Oliver D. and Hazel I. (Snyder) Kauffman.

He graduated from Quincy High School with the Class of 1961.

He married Phyllis (White) Kauffman on Feb. 17, 1995, in Hagerstown, Md.

Ronald was employed as an engine tester for Mack Trucks, dedicating 45 1/2 years and many long hours to a job and a company he highly respected.

His position allowed him to travel all across the U.S. and beyond. With his family at his side, he often traveled for leisure also.

One of his spare-time activities was metal detecting. He enjoyed a good joke and life in general. He also loved dogs, especially “his boys,” two Shih Tzus, Buddy and Socks.

He was an intelligent man with great mechanical abilities, often using those skills to assist family and friends. He was passionate about eagles, which might have spurred his own desire to fly. He was a private pilot and a member of QB Pilots Association.

Robinson; five stepgrandchildren; four stepgreat-grandchildren; one sister, Shirley M. Baker, State Line; and two nieces.
