Vincent Blondell Ruck, 85, of Star, Miss., and formerly of Hagerstown, Md., passed away Thursday, March 14, 2013, at Hospice Ministries in Mississippi.

Born May 10, 1927, in Hagerstown, he was the son of the late Samuel and Laura (Harter) Ruck.

Vincent was a member of Grace United Methodist Church in Hagerstown for more than 75 years.

He was an honorable veteran of the U.S. Navy, and was a member of Morris Frock American Legion Post 42 before becoming a member of Dixon-Troxell American Legion Post 211 in Funkstown.

He had worked as an airplane engineer at Fairchild Aircraft in Hagerstown.

Vincent loved to fish, and was a die-hard Yankees baseball fan. He loved to whistle and was very good at it!

He is survived by his loving wife of 24 years, Beverly J. (Haden) Ruck; two children, Vincent Ruck Jr. and Jamie Ruck; three stepchildren, Chris Klusmeier, Sherry Klusmeier Little and Sue Klusmeier Cronch; nine grandchildren, Angela Ruck, Tracey Stegemann, Chris Little, Derrick Little, Stacey Croft, Melissa Day, Justin Lee, Michael Lee and Lauren Klusmeier; and seven great-grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, Vincent was preceded in death by his first wife, Marie Sauders Ruck; his second wife, Charlotte Haden Ruck; a daughter, Linda Ruck Lee; a stepdaughter, Sheila Klusmeier; two sisters, Gladys Ruck Ailshire and Betty Ruck West; and a brother, Samuel Ruck.

A funeral service will be Friday, March 22, 2013, at 1 p.m. at Rest Haven Funeral Chapel, 1601 Pennsylvania Ave., Hagerstown, with the Rev. Clark D. Carr officiating. Interment will follow with military honors.

The family will receive friends one hour before the service at the funeral home.
