Ray Snouffer, artist, docent and instructor at Washington County Museum of Fine Arts and avid collector of 19th century American art, recently spoke at the Washington County Museum of Fine Arts.

His program to the Singer Society, the volunteer association of the museum, was about  19th century American artist Thomas Worthington Whittredge.

Whittredge, a contemporary with John Frederick Kensett, Albert Bierstadt and Frederick Church, is known as “Master of the Forest Interior.”

In addition to tracing Whittredge’s life and work, an introduction to American Luminism and the Hudson River School of painting was included.

The Singer Society meets on the second Thursday of each month.  Visitors are welcome.  Call the Washington County Museum of Fine Arts for information on upcoming programs.
