Pet adoption campaign

The Humane Society of Washington County is hoping to increase adoptions through its March Madness adoption campaign this month.

All adoptable dogs and cats will be available for adoption at half off the normal adoption fee.  The adoption fee for dogs will be $75 and $35.50 for cats. 

The adoption fee for dogs includes spaying/neutering; distemper, bordatella and rabies vaccinations, de-worming, flea treatment and microchipping.

Additionally, each dog will receive a free ID tag, one month free pet insurance and a complimentary examination by a participating Washington County veterinarian.

The cat adoption fee includes spaying/neutering, feline leukemia/FIV testing, distemper and rabies vaccinations, de-worming, microchipping, and flea treatment.

The shelter is open Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. with the adoption floor opening at 10 a.m.; Tuesdays and Thursdays from 9 a.m.  to 7 p.m. with the adoption floor opening at 10 a.m.; and Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. with the adoption floor opening at 10 a.m.

Suder featured artist at Mansion House exhibit

Local artist Trish Suder will be featured at Valley Art Association’s North Gallery Show at the Mansion House in Hagerstown’s City Park from April 4 to 28. 

Suder’s oil, acrylic, and water colors depict landscapes, flowers, the Civil War and shuttle paintings. All works are custom framed and originals.

An artists reception will be Sunday April 7, from 2-4 p.m.

Those attending will receive a mini-deer print courtesy of Suder.
