March 18, 2013

HAGERSTOWN — A boiler and chiller at Fountaindale Elementary School and most of the drop ceiling and lighting at Emma K. Doub Elementary School will be replaced, Washington County Public Schools officials said.

The Washington County Board of Education on March 5 unanimously approved a consent agenda that consisted of contracts for the two projects.

M&M Welding & Fabricators of Gaithersburg, Md., with a bid $758,000, will handle the Fountaindale Elementary project, according to a presentation document for the board meeting. This project, which includes electrical connections, is scheduled to be complete by Oct. 15. The Maryland State Interagency for Public School Construction must approve the contract award.

Callas Contractors, which is based in the Hagerstown area, bid $157,975 on the Emma K. Doub Elementary project, according to a presentation document for the board meeting. The work will begin in early June and is to be completed by Aug. 9.

Both firms were the low bidders.
