Morgan Co. road to be closed for bridge replacement

BERKELEY SPRINGS, W.Va. — Virginia Line Road in Morgan County will be closed to through traffic beginning as early as March 25, the West Virginia Division of Highways announced Thursday.

The closure, which is four miles north of Unger, W.Va., and three miles east of U.S. 522, is needed for the state to construct a new bridge over the Middle Fork of Sleepy Creek at Oakland, according to a news release.

Motorists are advised to use Morton Grove Road, Sticky Kline Road or Winchester Grade Road to detour around this site.

Work is anticipated to last several months, the release states.

Charles Town to host regional poker tournament

CHARLES TOWN, W.Va. — The inaugural Hollywood Poker Open (HPO) is coming to the Mid-Atlantic.

Hollywood Casino at Charles Town Races will host the only HPO regional tournament in the East from Thursday, March 21 through Monday, April 1, according to a news release from Charles Town Races.

The tournament culminates with the main event on Thursday, March 28, through April 1. The top finisher walks away with first-place cash and a $2,500 seat in the $500,000 Guaranteed HPO Championship at the M Resort in Las Vegas in June.

Thousands of players are expected for 15 events during a 12-day period.
