Women's Day set for Sunday

If you have enjoyed the fundraisers the ladies of Ebenezer AME Church have sponsored, then stop by the church Sunday and share in their Women’s Day Service. 

The church is at 26 W. Bethel St. in Hagerstown.

Blossom School to start Saturday

The new Blossom School of Etiquette will begin classes Saturday from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Hagerstown Presbyterian Church, 20 S. Prospect St.

The eight-week course is free. 

It is designed to prepare girls ages 7 to 17 on how to be successful in school, the business world and any social settings.

The classes are taught in a fun, interactive manner, which includes role playing, hands-on activities and handouts and concludes with a dining tutorial.

Some of the subjects to be discussed are personal growth/positive self image, visual poise, first impression, communication refinement, conflict resolution and other issues.

Indoor yard sale planned Saturday

Asbury United Methodist Church, 155 Jonathan St., will hold an indoor yard sale Saturday from 7 a.m. to noon. 

Items ranging in price from 50 cents to $5 (some slightly higher) will be for sale, including books, baby gear, clothes, children’s VHS videos and household items.

The proceeds will benefit vacation Bible school and youth activities.

The church will be accepting donated items to sell Friday between 5 and 8 p.m.

5K run/walk takes place

The Daughters of Zion Baptist Church will kick off their Woman’s Day 2013 Saturday with a 5K running/walking fitness event that coincides with this year’s theme “Journey to Joy.”

The goal is to encourage fitness, fellowship and fun.

The event will be held at Fairgrounds Park and is open to anyone. Registration begins and 8:30 a.m. and the walk begins at 9 a.m. There is a $5 entry donation.

Light snacks and water will be provided.

Teen dance planned Saturday

There will be a teen dance for those ages 11 to 16 Saturday from 7:30 to 10:30 p.m. in the MLK Gym, 131 W. North Ave.

Admission cost $2.

Anniversary event

Members of the Greater Campher Temple King’s Apostle Church World Ministries, 125 Bethel St., continue their anniversary celebration Sunday.

At 11 a.m., Eric K. Brown I,  president of Holiness Ministers Alliance International, will lead the service.

At the 4 p.m. service, Elder Kenneth Watkins, pastor of Souls One Outreach Ministries, Cumberland, Md., will lead the service with this year’s theme, “The Sabbatical Year — The Seventh Year of Release.”

Mentor group gathering Monday

The Teens with Hope mentoring group will be held every Monday at Memorial Recreation Center, 109 North St.

The first group session will be Monday at 5:15 p.m. with guest speaker Linda Brooks.

Movie night

Bridge of Life, 14 S. Potomac St., will hold movie night at 7 p.m. Saturday.

The movie, popcorn and drinks are free.
