Man wanted for kidnapping found in Berkeley County

MARTINSBURG, W.Va. — A Battle Creek, Mich., man who was wanted in Michigan for kidnapping was found Thursday at a home on Raider Lane off W.Va. 9 north of Martinsburg, according to the Berkeley County Sheriff’s Department.

Aaron K. Washington Jr., 62, was wanted in Calhoun County, Mich., on two counts of kidnapping, according to the sheriff’s department.

Police found Washington at the home on Raider lane with two children - ages 1 and 3 - who had been taken from Michigan, the sheriff’s department said.

The children were turned over to the state Department of Health and Human Resources until they can be returned to Michigan, police said.

Center to take unused prescription medication

McCONNELLSBURG, Pa. — People who want to dispose of unwanted prescription medication can bring it to the Fulton County Medical Center at 214 Peach Orchard Road on Saturday, April 27, according to Pennsylvania State Police.

The National Prescription Drug Take-Back event will be held from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the hospital, state police said.

The event is sponsored by the U.S. Department of Justice and the Drug Enforcement Administration.

Copper wire and hot water heater stolen from HUD homes

MERCERSBURG, Pa. — Copper wire and a hot water heater were stolen from two federal Housing and Urban Development residences earlier this month, according to Pennsylvania State Police.

One home is in the 11000 block of Anne Lane and the other is in the 11000 block of Punch Bowl Road, state police said. Both homes are in Montgomery Township.

The homes were not occupied at the times of the thefts, which occurred between March 3 and March 5, state police said.
