There's a new restaurant in town

Potomac Family Restaurant, owned by Imad Rababe, is now open at 1 E. Potomac St. in Williamsport.

The newly remodeled restaurant features American and Mediterranean cuisine and serves breakfast, lunch and dinner. The menu includes gyros, grills, pizza and other dishes.

Hours of operation are Monday through Friday, 6 a.m. to 9 p.m.; Saturday, 6 a.m. to 10 p.m.; and Sunday, 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. Dine-in, take-out and catering are available.

Used books sought

When doing spring cleaning, residents can bring their gently used books to Williamsport Memorial Library for its annual book sale in August.


The library accepts reading materials during regular business hours every month except August.

Potomac Garden Club to meet March 19

Members of the Potomac Garden Club will meet at 12:30 p.m. in the Reception Hall of Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church on Tuesday, March 19.

Before the business meeting, Master Gardener Chuck Koenecke will talk about companion planting and container gardening.

In addition, signup will be available for the Brookside Gardens trip set for Tuesday, May 7.

WHS Class of 1963 plans reunion Sept. 21

The Williamsport High School class of 1963 will meet to observe its 50th reunion on Sept. 21, at 6 p.m. at Western Sizzlin’ Steakhouse on York Road in Halfway.

Upcoming events planned at Springfield Farm Barn

• The Easter Bunny will be on hand for the inaugural Bunny Trail Craft Show, sponsored by the Chesapeake and Ohio Canal Days Committee. The event will be Friday, March 22, from 5 to 9 p.m. and Saturday, March  23, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

• Williamsport’s Earth Hour will be Saturday, March 23, from 7 to 9:30 p.m. The event features the band Soulstice on stage, free admission, door prizes and other activities to support the environment. For more information, go to

• An Easter sunrise service will be Sunday, March 31, at 6:30 a.m. at the Town Museum, sponsored by the Williamsport churches.

The community is invited.

• The Hitching Post Roundup Sale will be Saturday, April 6, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. The event features wedding items for sale. Attendees can talk with wedding service providers and visit the photo booth.
