Linnie Catherine Shoemaker, 87, formerly of Hedgesville, W.Va., passed away Tuesday, March 12, 2013, at Williamsport Retirement Home in Williamsport, Md.

Born Nov. 26, 1925, in Hagerstown, Md., she was the daughter of the late Daniel Ezra Ausherman and Rachel Catherine Blickenstaff Ausherman Rinehart. She was raised by Samuel and Linnie Ausherman.

Her husband, George Lester Shoemaker, preceded her in death in 1999.

Linnie was a member of Broadfording Bible Brethren Church in Hagerstown. She was a homemaker and "The World's Best Mother." 

She is survived by two daughters, Doris L. Henson and husband, Buddy, of Martinsburg, W.Va., and Judy M. Mullenix and husband, Jerry, of Hagerstown; three sons, Roy L. Shoemaker and wife, Darlene, of Graham, Ky., John S. Shoemaker and wife, Janet, of Kentucky, and Steven E. Shoemaker and wife, Kendra, of Clear Spring, Md.; five sisters, Sally Lynn and Rachel Dayhoff, both of Smithsburg, Rose Pebble of Waynesboro, Pa., and Margaret Smith and Mary Ridenour, both of Hagerstown; a brother, Harry Rinehart Jr. of Hagerstown; a special friend raised by the family, Charlie Gipe of Hancock; and numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a son, Roger L. Shoemaker; a grandson, Donald L. Shoemaker; a sister, Dorothy Hammer; and four brothers, Charles Rinehart, John Rinehart, John Ausherman and Samuel Ausherman.

Services will be Friday, March 15, 2013, at 11 a.m. at Donald Edwin Thompson Funeral Home Inc., 13607 National Pike, Clear Spring. The Rev. Bill Wyand will officiate. Burial will be at Cedar Lawn Memorial Park, Hagerstown.

The family will receive friends Thursday from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home. For the convenience of friends, you may visit the funeral home after noon.
