1. Readying for springtime

Flower and Garden Show will be 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday, March 16, and 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday, March 17. Hagerstown Community College’s Athletic, Recreation and Community Center, off Robinwood Drive, east of Hagerstown. Show participants include experts in nurseries, lawn and garden equipment, pottery and statuary, landscaping, tree services, stone products, pools, spas, outdoor furniture, florists, wild bird products and natural gourmet gifts from the garden. There will be seminars and demonstrations on a variety of gardening topics. $4; free for ages younger than 12. Proceeds benefit the HCC Alumni Association. 2. Early look at the Ag Expo and Fair

Ag Weekend will be Friday, March 15, through Sunday, March 17, at Valley Mall, 17301 Valley Mall Road, Halfway. See displays of events, businesses and activities offered by the Washington County Ag Expo and Fair. Daily activities include hands-on kids’ learning activities, kids’ crafts, egg hatching and more. Highlights include cake and pie contest and auction, 6 to 7:30 p.m. Friday; petting farm, 10 a.m. to 7 p.m., music by country artist Jeremy Staubus, 12:30 p.m., kids pedal pull, 7 p.m., all Saturday, March 16; and music by country artist Lindsey Erin, noon, and bluegrass by Fertile Soil, 3 p.m., all Sunday, March 17. 3. ‘A Night at the Opera’

Four young vocalists from the Curtis Opera Theatre of Philadelphia will join the Maryland Symphony Orchestra to perform popular works by Rossini, Donizetti, Mozart, and Bellini. Concerts are 8 p.m. Saturday, March 16, and 3 p.m. Sunday, March 17, at The Maryland Theatre, 21 S. Potomac St., downtown Hagerstown. Tickets cost $5 to $83. Call 301-797-4000.

4. Dance, dance, dance

Memorial Recreation youth dance will be 7:30 to 10:30 p.m. Saturday, March 16, at Martin Luther King gymnasium, 131 W. North Ave., Hagerstown. Dance open to ages 11 to 16. Admission $2. Call Karla Dorm at 301-991-5618.

5. Hip-hop in brass
