International Association of Administrative Professionals

The International Association of Administrative Professionals, or IAAP, recently announced that Donnell Householder of Cumberland, Md., earned certified administrative professional certification.

The professional certification requires individuals to satisfy education and/or experience requirements and pass a comprehensive exam.

Householder has been an administrative professional for 10 years and is an active member of the Hager Chapter of IAAP. In addition to IAAP, she is actively involved with other organizations such as the Junior Chamber of Commerce (Jaycees) and the Maryland Classified Employees Association, or MCEA. She is serving as the 2013 management development vice president for the Maryland Jaycees and as the state director for her local chapter, the Western Maryland Jaycees. She also serves as the MCEA Area IV secretary and as president of her local chapter, 191.



Coffman Nursing Home and Rehabilitation Center

Bob Simmers recently was named the new admissions director at Coffman Nursing Home and Rehabilitation Center in Hagerstown.

Simmers brings more than 25 years of human relations and marketing experience to Coffman, which recently added a new short-term rehabilitation department.

In his new role, Simmers will assist prospective residents and their families in the admissions process. He also will develop marketing opportunities for Coffman, which was named Washington County’s top nursing facility by the Maryland Department of Health and Mental Hygiene.

Simmers holds a master’s degree in strategic leadership and a bachelor’s degree in sociology. He is a graduate of the Dale Carnegie human relations course.



Tastefully Simple

Liza D’heedene of Hagerstown recently became an independent consultant with Tastefully Simple Inc., a national direct-sales company featuring more than 60 easy-to-prepare foods.

As an independent business owner, D’heedene offers food samples at home taste-testing parties, along with easy ideas for everyday meals, recipes, serving suggestions and fun. All of Tastefully Simple’s products are either ready to open and eat, or can be prepared by adding one or two ingredients.

Susquehanna Bank

Scott W. Palmer recently joined Susquehanna Bank as vice president, commercial relationship manager.

He is responsible for developing and maintaining commercial banking relationships with local real estate developers/investors and business owners, and is based at Susquehanna’s Hagerstown Financial Center, 1800 Dual Highway.

Palmer previously worked as vice president, relationship manager at PNC Bank and has 21 years of experience in the banking and financial services industry.

A resident of Frederick, Md., Palmer is a member of the Frederick County Builders Association.


• CUMBERLAND, Md. — Tracy S. Bemiller has joined Susquehanna Bank as commercial relationship manager.

He is responsible for growing and servicing the region’s commercial and business relationships, and is based at Susquehanna’s office at 71 Baltimore St. in Cumberland.

Bemiller previously worked as senior lending officer at First United Bank & Trust, and has 24 years of experience in the banking and financial services industry.

A resident of Mountain Lake Park, in Garrett County, Md., Bemiller is a member of Oakland Rotary, Tri County Council and the Garrett Development Corp. He graduated from Mount St. Mary’s College with a bachelor’s degree in business, and has a Master of Business Administration and Master of Science in finance from Loyola University in Maryland.



Razor’s Edge

Master barber Sue Wingerd recently joined Chuck Garland, Charlie Thomas and Sam Rock, owner of the Razor’s Edge barbershop at 13202 Fountain Head Plaza in Hagerstown’s North End.

Wingerd previously worked as a master barber for 22 years at the Gentlemen’s Choice barbershop in Frederick, Md.



Martinsburg Eye Associates

MARTINSBURG, W.Va. — Dr. Sunil M. Thadani, board-certified ophthalmologist, recently joined Martinsburg Eye Associates at 2002 Professional Court in Martinsburg.

Thadani received his medical degree from the George Washington University School of Medicine and Health Sciences in Washington, D.C., and completed his fellowship in ophthalmology at Ophthalmic Consultants of Boston at the New England Eye Center, Tufts University School of Medicine.

Thadani also holds a master’s degree in public health from Yale University School of Medicine.

Thadani offers medical and surgical care for a variety of eye conditions. His surgical specialties include premium intraocular implants, anterior segment surgery and corneal transplant surgery.

Thadani, a member of the medical staff at West Virginia University Hospitals-East’s City Hospital, is  accepting new patients in his Martinsburg practice with Dr. Mark Promersberger and Dr. Lawrence Brack.
