Charles Irvin Artz, 77, of Williamsport, Md., went to be with the Lord on Friday, March 8, 2013. He was loved and will be missed by many.

Born Dec. 14, 1935, in Hagerstown, Md., he was the son of the late Joseph Carson Artz Sr. and Minnie Virginia Ridenhour Artz.

He was a 1954 graduate of Williamsport High School.

He retired in 1995 from A.T.T.

He was preceded in death by a son, Douglas Irvin Artz; a brother, Joseph Carson Artz Jr.; and sisters, Lucille Frances Poffenberger, Lupa Reidi and Helen Waddington.

He attended LifeHouse Church Bethel in Hagerstown.

He was a lifetime member of Williamsport Red Men Lodge 84 and a lifetime member of the End of the Trail Hunt Club. He volunteered at LifeHouse Emanuel Church Food Pantry and was a lifelong blood donor for the American Red Cross, registering 10.3 gallons.

He is survived by sisters, Margaret Smith of Abington, Pa., Fae Beam of Shingle House, Pa., Barbara Breicher of Hagerstown and Bonnie Grenier of Swanzey, N.H.; two brothers, James Artz of Boonsboro, Md., and Robert Artz of Hagerstown; and many nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be Wednesday, March 13, 2013, at 11 a.m. at LifeHouse Church Bethel, 515 E. Wilson Blvd., Hagerstown. Burial will be at the convenience of the family.

There will be no viewing or visitation. 

Memorial donations may be made to the charity of one’s choice.
