WAYNESBORO, Pa. — The 30th Annual Franklin County (Pa.) Builders Show opened Friday at the Waynesboro Mall off Pa. 16.

The show continues Saturday from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. and Sunday from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Admission is $3 or $2 with a donation of a canned-food item to benefit Waynesboro food banks.

Sponsored by the Franklin County Builders Association, the show features everything from landscaping to home builders, from hot tubs to home mortgages and from appliances to garden tractors.

Event organizers expect between 10,000 and 15,000 people to browse the nearly 150 exhibitors this year.

Steve Dubpernell of Greencastle, Pa.,  stopped by the show to talk to experts about home renovations.

“I have some work that needs done on my house,” Dubpernell said.

He’s had positive experiences selecting craftsmen from the builders show in the past.

“I have been very fortunate. Or everybody here is very honest and trustworthy,” he said.

This is a good place, it seems, to find reputable people to do home improvements, Dubpernell said.

Stacy Watson and Phil Brown of Waynesboro bought a fixer-upper in August and headed straight to the Builders Show for some ideas.

“It was in foreclosure so we have to do everything from the top to the bottom,” Watson said.

As the couple was looking around, a jacuzzi bathtub caught Watson’s eye.

“She wants one of those,” Brown said.

“We actually put a tub in, but I said to him, ‘When we get everything done I want to put one of these in,’” Watson said.

Roger and Pam Eger of Needmore, Pa., had some free time on Friday and decided to spend it at the Builders Show.

“It’s our first time here and we were impressed,” Roger Eger said.

They were in the market for stone foundation for their log home.

“We have been to several (builder’s shows) in the past. This one is new to us. We’re finding that a lot of the vendors here will come to Needmore,” said Eger.
