Soup and sandwich sale planned at church

Christ Reformed United Church of Christ, at 22514 Cavetown Church Road, Cavetown, will hold a soup and sandwich sale Saturday from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.

There will be steamers, hot dogs, chicken corn, vegetable or bean soup and drinks.

Patrons can eat in or carry out.

Nurses refresher course

The Continuing Education and Community Services Division at Hagerstown Community College will offer a three-part nurse refresher course for registered nurses and licensed practical nurses beginning this month.

The nurse refresher course consists of three separate sections. The first section, “Nurse Refresher Classroom Theory,” will be held on Monday and Wednesday evenings, from 6 to 10 p.m., beginning March 18 and ending May 22.

Discussion topics include nursing care delivery, adult medical and surgical nursing, and current issues and trends in nursing practice. Cost is $642.

The second section, “Nurse Refresher Skills Lab,” will be held on Tuesday evenings, from 6 to 10 p.m., beginning April 2 and ending May 21.

The course coincides with the first section and will help students review basic nursing care skills. Cost is $348.

The third section, “Nurse Refresher Clinical Practice,” will be held from May 27 through Aug. 16.

Students must complete sections one and two prior to enrolling in the third portion of the course.

During the final section, students will complete 60 clinical hours in a clinical setting under the direction of a preceptor.

Days and times will vary depending on scheduled hours. Cost is $242.

Upon successful completion of the entire course, HCC will notify the Maryland Board of Nursing.
