Hagerstown men charged with burglary

Two Hagerstown men have been charged by the Washington County Sheriff’s Office with a January residential burglary in which about $12,000 in jewelry, electronics and other property were stolen.

James Thomas Grapes, 44, of 901 View St., and Scott Anthony Carlson, 39, of 219 N. Cannon Ave., were both charged with first-degree burglary, criminal conspiracy to commit first-degree burglary, theft of $10,000 to $100,000 and criminal conspiracy to commit theft between $10,000 and $100,000, a sheriff’s office press release said.

The burglary occurred Jan. 16 at a home of the 20800 block of Lehmans Mill Road, the release said.

Carlson was being held on $200,000 bond and Grapes on $150,000 bond, Washington County District Court records said.
