Mary D. “Diane” (Fellers) Shaff, 65, of Yarrowsburg, Md., went home to be with her Lord on Saturday afternoon, March 2, 2013, at her home, surrounded by her loving family.

Diane attended Boonsboro schools.

Along with her husband, she owned and operated Shaff’s Well Drilling.

Diane had a great love for animals, but cats were her passion. In her lifetime, she rescued more than 5,000 cats. Miss Daisy was, by far, her pride and joy. She also enjoyed gardening, especially planting and caring for her flox, of which she was very proud.

She is survived by her loving husband of 33 years, John V. Shaff Jr.; one son, John A. Shaff and wife, Tiffany, of Sharpsburg, Md.; one stepson, Chris Shaff of Inwood, W.Va.; three granddaughters, Mary, Megan and Katlin Shaff, all of Sharpsburg; two sisters, Gloria Mumaw and her husband, Luther, and Janice Linton, all of Knoxville, Md.; and two brothers, Charles “Sonny” Fellers and his wife, June, of Frederick, Md., and Harry “Butch” Fellers and his wife, Judy, of Brunswick, Md. She is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, Diane was preceded in death by her sister, Carol Jackson; and her brother, Larry Fellers.

The family would like to thank Hospice of Washington County for its love and outstanding care of Diane. Also, a special thank you to Debi, her hospice nurse, on whom Diane relied for support.

A funeral ceremony will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday, March 5, 2013, at Bast-Stauffer Funeral Home, 7606 Old National Pike, Boonsboro, Md. The Rev. Daniel Fraley will officiate. Final resting-place ceremonies will follow at Brownsville Heights Cemetery in Brownsville, Md.
