Donald Leon Rockwell, 85, a former resident of Midland, Mich., died peacefully Monday, Feb. 25, 2013, at Lakewood Ranch Tidewell Care Center in Bradenton, Fla.

Donald was born Jan. 16, 1928, in Hagerstown, Md., and graduated in 1945 from Hagerstown High School.

He served in the U.S. Navy for three years and spent many months on Guam as an aviation machinist mate.

From 1948 to 1960, he was employed by Fairchild Aircraft in the data processing department.

In 1960, Mr. Rockwell and his wife, Lois, moved from Hagerstown and relocated to Midland, and he was employed by the Dow Chemical Co. in the IT department, from where he retired in 1990.

Donald is survived by his wife of 62 years, Lois; two sons, Thomas of Bradenton and Andrew of Battle Creek, Mich.; five grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

Burial services will be Tuesday, March 5, 2013, at 12:30 p.m. at Sarasota National Cemetery. A memorial service will take place Friday, March 8, 2013, at 1 p.m. at Hope Lutheran Church, 4635 26th St. West, Bradenton.
