Donald Keith "Don" Zilch, 80, of Hagerstown, died Monday, Feb. 25, 2013, at Carroll Hospice Dove House.

Born Oct. 16, 1932, in Troy, N.Y., he was the son of the late Herbert Zilch and Margaret Steele Zilch.

He was the husband of Patricia "Pat" Wachter Zilch, his wife of 56 years.

Before retiring, he was the principal at Hancock High School and South Hagerstown High School.

He graduated with his bachelor of science degree from Lock Haven University and Penn State Masters Program. He did post-graduate work at the University of Iowa and the University of Maryland.

He was a member of St. Mark's Episcopal Church in Lappans, Maryland Terrapin Club, Morris Frock American Legion Post 42, AMVETS Post 10, VFW Post 1936 and Elks Lodge 378; and a life member of Alma Masonic AF&AM Lodge 244 in Alma, Mich.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by daughters and sons-in-law, Carol L. and Cliff Richardson of Westminster, Md., and Lisa A. and Anthony Trani of Moseley, Va.; two brothers, Charles "Chuck" Zilch of Michigan and William "Bill" Zilch of Pennsylvania; and four grandchildren, Brooke and Brady Richardson of Westminster, and Lauren and Alexandra Trani of Moseley.

Memorial services will be Saturday, March 9, 2013, at 11 a.m. at St. Mark's Episcopal Church, 18313 Lappans Road, Boonsboro, Md., with the Rev. Anne Weatherholt officiating. Interment will be private.
