BOWIE, Md. — The following area students were named to the dean’s list for the fall semester at Bowie State University:

  Samantha Taylor of Frederick, Md., a senior majoring in social work

  Brandee Johnson of New Market, Md., a junior majoring in communications

  Kierra Robinson of Walkersville, Md., a junior majoring in business administration


BUENA VISTA, Va. — Southern Virginia University has named Melody S. Plessinger to the president’s list for the fall semester with a 4.0 grade-point average.

While studying business administration, Plessinger will be participating in the school’s study abroad program in Rome and Florence, Italy.

She is a junior.

Plessinger is the daughter of Dwain and Ami Plessinger of St. Thomas, Pa.


SHEPHERDSTOWN, W.Va. — Shepherd University Master of Arts in College Student Development and Administration graduate student and Student Affairs graduate assistant José Moreno of Kearneysville, W.Va., was named student ambassador for the 2013 American College Personnel Association, College Student Educators International Convention in Las Vegas.



ROCHESTER, N.Y. — The following area students graduated from Rochester Institute of Technology in the fall:

 Amy Norman of Middletown, Md., Bachelor of Science in applied arts and sciences from RIT’s Center for Multidisciplinary Studies

 Joseph Rej of Rocky Ridge, Md., Bachelor of Science in electrical/mechanical engineering technology from RIT’s College of Applied Science and Technology
