State archives taking intern applications

ANNAPOLIS, Md. — The Maryland State Archives is accepting applications for its summer student intern program.

The internships are open to high school and undergraduate or graduate level college students attending Maryland schools or Maryland residents attending out-of-state schools.

These are paid internships that include experience and training in archival records management, digital imaging and historical research methods.

The 10-week program runs from June 5 to Aug. 13. Qualifications  for applicants include academic excellence, preferably with an interest in history, archival science, library science, computer science, American studies, African-American studies, museum studies or related fields.

The application process is competitive and details can be accessed at http://msa.maryland.gov/msa/intromsa/employ/html/employ.html. Applications must be postmarked on or before April 1 and applicants will be notified by April 29.

In addition to the paid summer program, there are student internships available for academic or community service credit throughout the year.
