Willie A. Gandy Sr., 79, of Hagerstown, died Tuesday, Feb. 26, 2013, at his home.

He was born April 22, 1933, in Atmore, Ala., to the late Greeley and Maggie (nee Mallard) Gandy, and leaves to grieve his wife, Josephine (nee Scott) Gandy.

Willie was a retired 25-year employee of Mack Trucks, a member of Garden State Tannery in Williamsport, United Methodist Men's Club, Progressive Men's Club, James E. Stewart Lodge 49 in New Market, Md., and past Worshipful Master of Oak Spring Masonic Lodge 41 PHA of Hagerstown. He was a past Senior Deacon and a member of Asbury United Methodist Church Gospel and Sanctuary Choir. Willie enjoyed bowling and was an avid Redskins fan.

Willie and Josephine had four children, Troy W. Gandy and his wife, Chantell, Edwina Monroe and her husband, Robert, Willie A. Gandy Jr. and his wife, Denise, and Tanya Townes. He was grandpa, PapPap and Papi to 10 grandchildren. He also is survived by Erika Rodriguez and her husband, Joel A.; and a host of nieces, nephews and cousins.

Friends will be received at Asbury United Methodist Church, 155 Jonathan St., Hagerstown, on Tuesday, March 5, 2013, from 10 a.m. to noon at which time a funeral service will be held, with Pastor Sharon Gibson officiating. Interment will immediately follow in Cedar Lawn Memorial Park.
