World Day of Prayer service scheduled

A World Day of Prayer service, sponsored by the Williamsport Area Church Women United, will be Friday from 1 to 2:30 p.m. at Downsville Church of the Brethren, 8228 Dam 4 Road.

The community is invited.

Little League registration continues

Halfway Little League will continue registration Sunday from 1 to 3 p.m. at 4-Star Athletic Complex, 30 Milestone Drive in Williamsport.

Registration is for girls fast-pitch softball (offered to Valley, Conococheague and Halfway districts), ages 7 to 14; baseball, ages 7 to 12; and tee-ball, ages 4 to 6.

Sandwich sale is in process

Van Lear Brethren in Christ Church, 10745 Van Lear Drive, will hold a sandwich sale.

Sandwich selections include country ham, baked ham and turkey. Each sandwich contains one-quarter pound of meat and is on a five-inch roll.


The sandwiches cost $5 each. To place an order, call Jackie at 301-582-2220 or Helen at 301-739-0106.

All orders are due by Sunday.

Orders will be available for pickup at the church on Wednesday, March 13, between 5:30 and 7:30 p.m.

St. Patrick’s Day dinner dance planned

Williamsport United Methodist Church, 25 E. Church St., will hold a Saint Patrick’s Day Dinner Dance Saturday, March 16.

A spaghetti dinner will be served at 6 p.m. The dance will be from 7 to 10 p.m.

Tickets cost $10 per person.

All proceeds will benefit the youth ministry.

Election day reminder

Monday, March 4, is election day in Williamsport.

Ballots will be cast for the positions of mayor, assistant mayor and two council members.

Voting will be from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. in the lower level of Town Hall. Enter at the alley on West Salisbury Street.

Town Hall business office will be closed and town employees will not be available on election day.

Players sign up for alumni games

More than 50 former varsity players from the classes of 1973 through 2012 have registered to play in the Williamsport High School alumni men’s basketball doubleheader on Saturday, March 9, starting at 6 p.m.

Admission costs $5, and all proceeds will benefit the Geraldine Andrews Medical Fund.
