Linn F. Secrist, 76, passed away Feb. 23, 2013, at the VA Medical Center in Martinsburg, W.Va.

Linn was born in Martinsburg to Nettie Whitacre Secrist and Calvin Secrist. Linn was of Protestant faith. 

Linn spent eight years in the U.S. Air Force and retired from civil service at Harpers Ferry National Park after many years of service.

He was a life member of VFW Post 896, a life member of American Legion Post 14 and a member of the Moose Lodge.

He and his wife enjoyed traveling, having visited all continents, all states in the United States and circumventing the globe.

He was a lover of history and genealogy.

Linn was preceded in death by his parents and granddaughter, Jenna Thomas.

Linn was survived by his loving wife of 23 years, Phyllis Secrist; daughters, Cheryl Viands and husband, Gary, and Becky Thomas and husband, Wesley; grandchildren, Shelly Holliday and husband, John, Kenneth Looney and wife, Liesl, Clay Viands and longtime girlfriend, Chris, Christina Maiorano, Seth Thomas, Dawn Canfield, Diane Viands and Gary Viands II; great-grandchildren, Kalin Thomas, Sydney Holliday, Phillip Holliday, Jacob Thomas and Anthony Thomas; brother, Bruce Secrist; nieces, Sue Ann Palmer and husband, Marc, and Cindy Hoover and husband, Steve; and nephew, Mike Secrist.

A celebration of his life will be held at Burnside First Church of God, 3904 Mills Road, Sharpsburg, Md., on Thursday, Feb. 28, at 11 a.m. Interment will be private, as requested by the family.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Burnside Church or to Hospice of the Panhandle, 122 Waverly Court, Martinsburg, WV 25408.
