HCC to offer Nora Roberts Writing Institute

February 24, 2013

Hagerstown Community College has signed an agreement with author Nora Roberts to create the Nora Roberts Writing Institute at HCC.

The first conference will be Aug. 2 and 3.

“We are thrilled to be able to form a partnership with Nora Roberts in developing an institute that will help develop and support aspiring writers,” said Guy Altieri, HCC president.

Roberts has lent her name to HCC’s writing institute to help provide participants with a foundation upon which to build a writing career. From the fundamentals of setting up the story and plot to research basics, the two-day retreat is designed for beginning and aspiring writers with interest in a wide range of genres. Also included in the event is a young writers institute, with breakout sessions designed for students entering grades 10 to 12.

The institute will feature keynote speakers Sylvia Day, New York Times best-selling author; and critically acclaimed author Erica Bauermeister. Participants will have the opportunity to learn the fundamentals from professionals, in more than 15 breakout sessions.
