Hagerstown will resume yard waste collections

February 24, 2013

The City of Hagerstown will resume yard waste collections the week of March 3.

The program will continue through the last full week of December, the city said in an emailed news release.

The city reminded residents to set out yard waste the same night as they set out their trash and recycling. Yard waste can be placed at curbside after 4 p.m. but before midnight on the set-out day.

In addition, the city said, yard waste must be placed at curbside in reusable containers such as garbage cans or cardboard boxes, or in paper yard waste bags. Plastic bags are not permitted.

Yard waste collection includes leaves, grass clippings, branches and small sticks.

Residents are required to bundle branches and sticks in lengths of 3 feet or smaller, and no larger than 2 inches in diameter.

Anyone with questions may contact the Department of Parks and Engineering at 301-739-8577, ext. 125, or go to www.hagerstownmd.org.
