Northstars rout Carroll County to reach state title game

FREDERICK, Md. — Sean Kreps had two goals to lead Washington County past Carroll County in the state semifinals at Skate Frederick.

Travis Biggs and Josh Barron had a goal and two assists each, Arizona Zervas had a goal and an assist, Michael DiMercurio and Kyle Omar each had a goal, Drew Brooks and Nate Lieske each had an assist and Jeremy Benda made 14 saves for the North Stars.

The Northstars are the two-time defending state champions and will go for a third consecutive title when they play Severna Park in the final on Monday at 5 p.m. at Laurel Ice Gardens.



BOYS BASKETBALL

Saint James 66, Georgetown Day 41

WASHINGTON — Saint James picked up a victory over Georgetown Day to end the regular season and gain the No. 2 seed in the Mid-Atlantic Conference tournament.

Obi Enechionyia led the Saints (12-13, 7-5) with 19 points, eight rebounds and three blocked shots. Nnamdi Enechionyia added 17 points, eight rebounds and four steals. Sherman Harris had seven points and four assists.

The MAC tournament begins Friday at Potomac School, and the Saints will go up against Georgetown Day (2-15, 0-12) again, beginning at 3 p.m.

BERKELEY SPRINGS, W.Va. — Trevon Wesco scored a game-high 31 points to lead Musselman past Berkeley Springs.

Thomas Hargroves added 10 points for the Applemen (14-8).

Kyle Appel had 15 points, including two 3-pointers, and Michael Kearney had 12 points for the Indians (6-15).

CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. — Mitch Stahl had 16 points to lead Chambersburg in a first-round PIAA Class AAAA District 3 playoff win over Cedar Crest.
