Joseph Forti Jr., 59, of 478 Fair Meadows Blvd., Hagerstown, Md., passed away Sunday, Feb. 17, 2013, at Meritus Medical Center after a long and courageous battle with cancer.

Born Monday, June 15, 1953, in Cleona, Pa., he was the son of the late Joseph Forti Sr. and the late Josephine Theresa (Shelton) Forti.

He graduated from Annville/Cleona High School in 1971 and served in the Air National Guard from 1972 to 1977. He was employed as manager of Kyner’s Auto Sales in Chambersburg, Pa., for the last 17 years, and was voted “Automotive Genius of the Year.” He liked playing golf, but especially enjoyed baseball and coaching his son at Valley Little League and watching his daughter play volleyball. Joe was a loving husband and father, and will always be remembered for his love of kids, kind heart and his great hugs.

He is survived by his wife, Lori Ann Forti; daughter, Allie-Marie Antoinette Forti, and son, Joseph Victor Shelton Forti, both at home; stepchildren, Katelyn Dawson of Hagerstown, Thomas Dawson of Marshall, Va., Trisha Kritikos of Chambersburg, Tony Kritikos of Waynesboro, Pa., and Bob Blan of Fayetteville, Pa.; two sisters, Regina Padelsky and husband, Andrew, of Lebanon, Pa., and Antoinette Forti of Cleona, Pa.; two brothers, Frank Forti and fiancée, Lora Urso, of Philadelphia, Pa., and Gregory Forti and wife, Janice, of Cleona; numerous nieces and nephews; and family pet, Buddy Forti.

He was preceded in death by a brother, Victor Forti; and a nephew, Angelo Forti.

A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated Thursday, Feb. 21, 2013, at 10 a.m. at St. Ann Catholic Church, 1525 Oak Hill Ave., Hagerstown, with the Rev. George Limmer officiating.

The family will receive friends at Douglas A. Fiery Funeral Home, 1331 Eastern Blvd. North, Hagerstown, on Wednesday, Feb. 20, 2013, from 6 to 9 p.m.

Interment will be in the Cedar Lawn Memorial Park, Hagerstown.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in memory of Joe for the benefit of Joseph and Allie-Marie's college fund, c/o Jackie Weller, 20702 Trovinger Mill Road, Hagerstown, MD 21742.
